A few years ago, I lost my 35 year-old sister, Missy, to cancer.
Losing Missy was unexpected and it hurt deeply. It forced me to examine my own life. I realized that it was time to change direction. After spending 15 years working for a large advertising agency in New York, San Francisco, Washington DC and Bangkok, Thailand, I felt unsatisfied, unmotivated and unfulfilled.
Visual elements - light; shadow; texture; color; the human face; and gesture - have always intrigued me. Photography provided the creative challenge and satisfaction that I needed. After leaving the agency business, I attended the International Center of Photography in New York City. During the past few years I have been finding and developing my photographic style and learning my craft.
My initial focus was on producing fine art photography. I've developed a strong passion for alternative process printing - working in Platinum and Cyanotype - and take pride in producing work with my own hands. Recently I have turned my attention to editorial portraiture and commercial photography. My goal is to produce work that is meaningful, different and strikes an emotional cord with the audience.
